Urban Pantry is a collaboration of like-minded individuals and groups working together on food-growing and food skills initiatives. Currently, Urban Pantry is a program of the Canadian Mental Health Association, funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Our mission is to strengthen the community of Barrie by fostering a connection between its citizens and their environment, through supporting the increase and diversification of a sustainable local food system.
The Urban Pantry program will deliver urban agriculture and food skills programming in Barrie over the next 3 years. The flagship project will be a youth wellness garden at the CMHA on Anne St. Participants will be involved in community gardening and community kitchen workshops. The program also includes food handler certification training, and expansion of the Barrie Good Food Box program.
